MY DOUBLE BOOM YAGI (TWINBOOM) ANTENNAS FOR 1296 MHZ
If you have come to this page, I think you have had read all what is said about twinboom antennas for 50, 144 and 432 MHz, so that I need not to repeat it.
What I have to say now is:
The standard values for Earth and Sky temperatures, due to much quieter condition, are much lower than on lower bands. Tearth is taken to be 290K and Tsky 10 K. Therefore,. good performance claimed for twinboom antennas, are spectacularely expressed on the 23 cm band, as you will see.
I have modelled many twinboom antennas for 23 cm band, with different element diameter. Here in the table you will see the antennas with elements of 5 mm diameter only. Smaller diameter offers worse performanse within 0.2 to 0.5 dB. so that I decided not to include them in the list. However, if there is interest for them, just send me an e-mail with your request.
Please, have in mind that radiator of each antenna should be made of Ø2.5 mm silverplated copper wire. The reason is just to avoid aluminum soldering or welding. Silvered wire is easy to solder and resistant against corrosion. If necessary, I can model antenna with thiner material (Ø1.5 mm, for example, though I do not recommend this).
