HAM RADIO

HERE WE ARE

Old BC Radios by W2ISE

I hope you enjoy this page. With the years,  i collected a lot of interesting links to competend institutions and amateur radio operators. i don`t want to tell you a big story about my self, i`d like to entertain and inform you.

I startet my RF career in 1970 and i`m all ready lucky untill today, because of the many faces of ham radio opertation. Usualy i operate in SSB, sometimes CW and digital modes, specially on 17 and 20 meters at the day, and on 40 / 80 meters at the night - looking for dx. Transmitting with arround 500 Watts into different wire antennas. I`m also a friend of QRP / QRPP and hear "gladly" quiet signals from that big QRM on 40/80m. Many ham`s means, that life would be too short for QRP... This is not my opinion. For me, it`s an adventure, using only a few milliwatts to reach other continents. But if i need a solid connection under bad propagations and  in a number of other cases - i run a few watts more., but i do not set my PA under presure and i only accept a good tuned antenna system.                                                                                                                                  By the way - i`m a free amateur radio operator - no DARC member.           QSL only via eqsl.cc. vy 73s de joe

 OP  JOE - DM7KW

  Was ist ein Funkamateur

A Yaesu Baby is a  new member of my equpment. It´s the 817ND. After i used the ft-897 for a while and compare the RX to the FT-817, i found, that the 897 is very unsensitive on 144 and 438 MHz. Much better the 817. Believe me, The 817 has one of the best RX in sensitivity. In this case, the 817 is the better solution for the next outdoor season and a very welcome companion. What`s happen in the air ? here you find out.  This is a air traffic monitor in realtime where you can see any aircraft. If you click on a machine, you see some infos like start airport, speed, target and more. A very interesting website.

MARITIME MOBILE

From the air, to the sea. Look at this very fine maritime mobile monitor worldwide in (near) realtime. Watching the speed an the route from any ship and find out much more.

Before i saw this monitor for the first time, i could not imagine, the enormously ship traffic in many areas. Take a few minutes and find your sea area.

EARLY  YEARS  (VIDEO)

Summary: After 2-1/2 years of use, including lots of DX'ing and many contest efforts on both CW and SSB, I'm very pleased with the performance of the transceiver. The roofing filters and variable bandwidth DSP circuits have worked well. I'm able to coexist with other stations just a few hundred Hertz away in a cw contest environment, just as I was with my modified FT-1000MP. I really like the FT-2000's receive audio quality, which is very clear and non-fatiguing.The display presents information in an attractive, colorful, and useful manner. It performs well, looks great, and like a well-designed mobile phone or other piece of electronics, it's a pleasure to operate. Read bob`s ful report here.

WEB SDR RECEIVERS

Not too long ago, some ham`s starting to publish SDR receivers via internet. A WebSDR is a Software-Defined Radio receiver connected to the internet, allowing many listeners to listen and tune it simultaneously. SDR technology makes it possible that all listeners tune independently, and thus listen to different signals; this is in contrast to the many classical receivers that are already available via the internet. This could be very interesting, if you want to check your modulation in realtime, of course, only when you arrive there. Have you ever heard about “www.eqsl.cc” ?  No ? - try it. More and more ham`s from all over the world use the electronic way to exchange qsl`s. I`ve confirmed nearly 200 countrys.
