About me and where i live
That's me - born in 1956, I grew up in Solothurn. When I was 18 years old, I moved to the region of Berne
where I still live. In 1974 I started working as a radio-operator with a company called Radio-suisse Ltd. That is where I
got in touch with HF and learned the morse code. At Radio-Suisse we maintained a coast-station, its callsign was HEB and in
the 70s and 80s HEB was a well-known station.
I got my license as an amateur in 1979 and have since then been more or
less active.
I live, together with my son, in a
small hamlet called
Weissenstein which belongs to the village of Meikirch. Meikirch is in the northwest of Berne -
about 10 km away from the capital. As you can see on the picture, it is a small village with fields and forests around, it
has got a few farmers and some local business but the bigger part of its inhabitants are working in Berne or other places.
It is a very quiet and peaceful place to live.
This picture is
showing a part of Weissenstein where I live. The houses were built in 1997, and with the exception
of the cellars they are completely made out of wood. In the distance, on the right side is the village of Meikirch.
This is the house I am living in, facing north - north-east, on the roof, at the right top you can see the antenna.
And here the same house - seen from the south, now you can see the antenna - a MFJ magnetic loop. You can also see the
sun-collectors on the roof which help heating up the warm water, especially from spring to autumn.
